Guard Tour

A lot of Guard Tour products do not deliver very much in the way of management information. Traditionally they are built around a simple “pipe” like device which is of course very robust. You are presented with something resembling a till roll showing every transaction and not much in the way of actionable management information.

When we spoke to our customers they were asking for something more intelligent and manageable. Our software is designed to connect the manager desktop to a ruggedized PDA in real time if required – and delivers some exceptionally useful features.

The PDA has integrated GPS and RFID capability – and of course it is also a telephone. This allows us to trigger an alert to a central monitoring resource via 3G/GPRS if a checkpoint has been missed – at the time it is missed.

We use RFID as our chosen checkpoint technology – but if you want barcodes, “iButtons” or any other 3rd party product we will happily integrate that technology into the solution.

The PDA also has panic alarm capability. Pressing the panic alarm on the PDA initiates an alarm at the V-TAS Pro server and a map showing the last known position is presented to the operator. The operator is given the option of initiating a telephone call to the PDA being used by the person who activated the panic alarm.

We would also recommend that each person carries a smaller but functionally identical panic alarm device – we currently integrate to a number of different manufacturers (see our Integration Partners).

The software allows tasks to be allocated to individuals in the field from the central station. The tasks status can be updated by the operative and this information is relayed in real time back to the control room.
